Zazu and Stan — Dachshund Studio Portraits at Bentwaters
Zazu and Stan came in for a studio portrait session at my Bentwaters studio. Two dachshunds with distinct personalities, which made for an interesting session from start to finish.
The Session
With two dogs in the studio, the approach is always to get individual portraits sorted first. Once each dog is settled and you’ve got a feel for how they behave in front of the camera, the paired shots tend to follow more naturally. Zazu and Stan both cooperated well, which made the whole session run smoothly.
The thing with two dogs who know each other is that there are moments between them that happen on their own. You can’t direct it, so you position yourself to catch it when it comes.
The Portraits
The finished images include individual portraits of both Zazu and Stan alongside shots of the two of them together. Two distinct characters, and the portraits reflect that.
