Monty and Suki — Dachshund Studio Portraits at Bentwaters
Monty and Suki came in for a studio portrait session at my Bentwaters studio. Two dachshunds, each with their own personality, which made for an interesting session.
Two Dogs, Two Approaches
With any multi-dog session, the first thing you notice is how different each animal is. Monty and Suki were no exception. They settled in at different speeds and responded differently to the camera — which meant the individual portraits from the session have a distinct character for each of them.
Getting two dogs to cooperate simultaneously for a joint portrait is always the tricky part. You’re essentially asking two separate animals to make the same decision at the same time, which they have no particular reason to do. Patience and timing are what get you there.
The Results
The session produced a good set of individual portraits as well as some shots of them together. Both dogs come across clearly in the images — their different personalities visible in the frames, which is exactly what you want from a portrait.
