Dexter — Dachshund Studio Portraits at Bentwaters
Dexter came in for a portrait session at my Bentwaters studio. He’s a dachshund with character — the kind of dog who arrives somewhere new and immediately starts checking whether there’s anything interesting going on.
The Session
That curiosity is actually useful in a portrait session. A dog that’s engaged with its surroundings tends to look alert in front of the camera rather than blank or anxious. Once Dexter had satisfied himself that the studio was worth investigating, he was happy to settle and work.
We tried a few different backgrounds and lighting setups. With dachshunds, getting the eyes and expression right is the priority — the face tells the story.
The Portraits
The session produced a good set of portraits. Dexter’s personality comes through clearly in the images, which is what you’re after.
