Nelly and Winnie — Dachshund Studio Portraits at Bentwaters
Nelly and Winnie came in for a studio portrait session at my Bentwaters studio. Two dachshunds, both with plenty of personality, and the kind of easy dynamic between them that makes a two-dog session run well.
The Session
We started with individual portraits for each dog — getting them settled and comfortable in the studio before trying anything together. Nelly and Winnie both settled in fairly quickly, which gave us time to work through a proper range of setups rather than rushing.
With two dogs who know each other well, there’s often a natural quality to the shots where they’re together — something you can’t direct, you just have to wait for it and be ready when it happens.
The Portraits
The images from the session came out well. There’s a good set of individual portraits for each dog and some nice shots of them together. The different characters of the two dogs are visible in the images, which is what makes a portrait worth having.
