Tuppence — Dachshund Studio Portrait Session

Tuppence came in for a studio portrait session at Bentwaters. She’s a dachshund with a good deal of confidence — the kind of dog that has a look at the studio, decides it’s acceptable, and gets on with things.

The Session

That kind of temperament makes the work easier. Once a dog is relaxed in the space, you can take your time and try different things without the animal getting wound up. We worked through a few setups, adjusting the light and background to suit her colouring.

The portraits came out well. There’s a range of images from the session — close head shots with the eyes clearly lit and some fuller body portraits showing her shape and expression.

About the Studio Sessions

Dachshunds make for good portrait subjects. They tend to be alert and expressive, and that combination of long body and distinctive face gives you plenty to work with. Every dog is different, and it’s that difference that keeps the work interesting.
