Merlin and Murphy — Dachshund Studio Portraits at Bentwaters
Merlin and Murphy came in for a studio portrait session at Bentwaters. Two dachshunds, and quite different from each other — which made for a session with a good bit of variety.
The Session
Two dogs always changes the dynamic in the studio. The approach is to work with each one individually first — getting them settled, getting individual portraits sorted — before attempting anything together. With Merlin and Murphy we had a good spread of temperaments to work with, which meant the individual portraits had their own character and the shots of them together had a natural quality.
The kind of interaction that makes a two-dog portrait worth having isn’t something you can stage. You set the scene and wait for it. With these two, we got what we needed.
The Portraits
The session produced a good set of individual portraits for both Merlin and Murphy alongside some nice paired shots. Two dogs, two personalities, and the images show both clearly.
